this track is from a folder of 2-track songs among the most recent i've laid down in over ten years of intent and attentive efforts to record music: songs that have the basic acoustic and vocals laid down, but await further studio work. Bass, perhaps...definitely a second acoustic guitar, either doubling or accompanying by arpeggio, lead, or motif. maybe electric touches, maybe keyboard touches, more vocal work. but this is essentially a peek into the song before that additional orchestration and polish happens.
it's also possible and defensible to think of this version as a purer version of the song. just the basic rendition as conveyed by the songwriter with their guitar, recorded live. over there, or right here; it either works or it doesn't. the rest is lighting and writeup.
